Dante is linked to the city of Forlì; it was here that the great poet was welcomed by Scarpina degli Ordelaffi, the first member of the Ghibelline family who ruled it until the bloody murder of Pino degli Ordelaffi in 1488. Dante saw Forlì in 1303 and then again in 1310.

However, Forlì had to appear very different from today; of Roman origin, along the axis of the Via Emilia, in the Middle Ages it must have been a city characterized by towers and waters: those of Ronco and Montone.

Walking through the streets of the center we will look for clues of a Middle Ages that coexists with the Fascist period, with large buildings, the result of a restyling that insists on ancient residences, starting from the large Saffi square. Here we will visit the ancient Abbey of San Mercuriale, which conveys signs, symbols and references to the link between Dante Alighieri and the city of Forlì. The walk includes the streets of the historic center that will be told to bring them back to an image of the Middle Ages that Dante saw.
